VHIS × PlayChip × NYCU | Building Technology Skills for the Next Generation
When what students need to know today may no longer be enough for tomorrow, education must ask a bigger question: How can we prepare them for what does not yet exist?
At Viet Hoa International School (VHIS), the answer lies not only in what students learn, but also in how they experience, explore, and create. Through the PlayChip program, VHIS is gradually bringing AI, programming, and semiconductor technology into the classroom, creating an environment where teachers and students can explore, practice, and develop the skills needed to navigate a rapidly changing world.
With PlayChip, VHIS’s vision for technology education is no longer just an aspiration. It is becoming a real classroom experience.
The journey begins with the people who will accompany students every day: our teachers. Before working directly with students, the VHIS teaching team became the first learners, experiencing the PlayChip program firsthand and exploring topics including semiconductor materials, devices and manufacturing processes, sensors, logic gates, and programming. Through hands-on practice, experimentation, and problem-solving, teachers not only gained a deeper understanding of technology but also experienced how these concepts can be transformed into engaging and accessible learning activities for students.
From the teachers’ learning experience, the journey then moved into the students’ classroom. Sitting in front of their computers, students began exploring technology with curiosity—asking questions, experimenting with different approaches, and finding ways to complete the challenges before them. Semiconductors, sensors, and programming were no longer simply theoretical concepts; they became things students could observe, interact with, and experience for themselves. Throughout the process, VHIS teachers remained by their side—not simply to provide guidance, but to observe, support, and encourage students to discover their own solutions. Through this process, students learned that technology is not only about knowing how to use a tool, but also about asking questions, thinking critically, and creating.
As curiosity gradually developed into skills, students began applying what they had learned to hands-on projects and developing their own creations. They explored logic gates, EDA, and IC/CPU concepts while completing projects, preparing presentations, and participating in game programming activities. Through this experience, students strengthened not only their technical knowledge but also their logical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity, and ability to communicate ideas. What matters is not simply how perfect the final product is, but the journey behind it—from understanding to experimentation, and from experimentation to creation.
Behind this journey is a collaboration between VHIS, SIPP Technology, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), with VHIS officially becoming a PlayChip Founding Partner. This partnership brings AI, programming, and semiconductor technology closer to students in Vietnam and represents an important step in VHIS’s commitment to Trilingual Education × Technology Education × Innovative Education, helping students develop the thinking, adaptability, and creativity they need for the future.
As an international school committed to trilingual education, VHIS believes that preparing students for the future cannot stop at languages and academic knowledge. Students need opportunities to explore new fields, learn through real experiences, and become active explorers rather than simply recipients of knowledge. PlayChip is one of the concrete ways VHIS is turning this educational vision into meaningful classroom experiences.
The three-day experience may have come to an end, but the questions and curiosity sparked in the classroom will continue. A student may begin by wondering how a device works and gradually develop a deeper interest in technology. A teacher may begin by learning a new tool and discover a new way to inspire students. And a classroom may begin with one hands-on activity, yet open the door to a much bigger vision of the future.
The education of the future is not simply about preparing students for the world we already know. It is about giving them the ability to step confidently into the unknown—and the courage to create what does not yet exist.
This is the learning journey that VHIS and PlayChip are beginning together.
